Video analytics can be a component of videosurveillance systems – automatic processing of digital images with help of special software, which provides, for example, following functions:
- Control of the particular objects, that appeared in a given zone (for example, a bag) or, conversely, is missing from its place (eg, computer)
- Analysis of objects (adult, child, animal)
- "Perimeter protection" on the screen, while an alarm is triggered at the intersection of the visual boundary (perimeter) by moving object in a given direction
- Measurement of the traffic speed
- Vehicle license plate recognition
- Counting people passing through the visual border in both directions
- Record the line of people or crowd formation
Due to the fact that modern videocameras are becoming more affordable, but their capabilities are constantly expanding, video is increasingly used not only for protection, but also to solve many other problems - transport (rear view camera, road conditions record at the accident, automatic number identification), in homes (image transfer to your mobile phone in the house, video connection), marketing (counting customers/visitors, analysis of consumer behavior in supermarkets), increasing worker productivity.
